Welcome to Shuksan Middle School!

This Welcome Newsletter has videos and information to introduce the staff and provide you with information for incoming 6th grade families.

We also want to publish some of the Questions that incoming families have asked:

Q:  How do I let the school know when my student will be absent?

A: Please call our Attendance line at 360-647-6878 and let our Attendance Secretary know.  Unlike elementary school, we ask that families communicate with the Attendance Secretary about absences (not the classroom teacher). More info here.

Q:  How do I find my bus route?

A: Please find information about bus routes here starting August 25

Q:  Where can I get information about Athletics & Activities?

A:  Go here for athletics!  Go here for Extra Curricular Activities!

Q:  Can my student participate in Shuksan Summer Reading?

A:  Yes!  We would love for each Shuksan student to “Finish 5!” this summer.  Go here for more info.

Q:  Can 6th grade students take Spanish?

A:  Yes, those students not taking Band or Orchestra are eligible for a Spanish class.  It is a class that rotates at the semester.  More questions?  Email our counselor, Jennifer Cowan, for more details.

Q:  What is AVID and who can join?

A: We are proud of our AVID students.  You can read about AVID here and direct AVID questions to Beth Insera (our AVID coordinator).

Q:  What support services do you offer students?

A:  Please find information about support services here.

Q:  How can families learn more about Shuksan or become involved in school activities?

A:  Please find information about FIESTA (Families at Shuksan Together) here.

We look forward to meeting you soon.
